Plot:
The story follows a group of friends—Shelby, Cyrus, Reuben, Dennis, Nikki,
Brooke, and Maya—who gather at Reuben’s family home for a pre-wedding party. An
old college friend, Forbes, whom they haven’t seen in years, joins them. The
last time they saw him, he was expelled for an incident involving his younger
sister, Beatrice, who was later committed to a mental institution. Forbes has
since disappeared into the tech world.
Forbes arrives at the party with a mysterious device that allows people to
swap bodies. He and his colleagues had developed the technology for fun,
playing a game where they would try to guess who was inhabiting their bodies.
He demonstrates the device to the group and offers to play the game with them.
Despite initial fears, they agree. Each person takes a Polaroid to help
identify their original selves before the game begins.
In the first round of body swaps, tensions rise when Forbes, in Dennis's
body, lies about his identity, pretending to be Cyrus, who is in Reuben’s body.
This deception unsettles Cyrus, but they decide to go along with it. Cyrus (in
Reuben’s body) ends up kissing Maya (in Nikki’s body), complicating his
relationship with his girlfriend, Shelby. The group eventually switches back to
their original bodies, but Cyrus’s jealousy and attraction to Nikki create
friction.
In the second round, Shelby, initially hesitant, becomes excited to
participate, while Cyrus grows more suspicious of Forbes. The game takes a
dangerous turn when the rooftop balcony collapses, killing Reuben (in Dennis’s
body) and Brooke (in Maya’s body), who were there having sex.
Chaos ensues as the remaining group members—now trapped in different
bodies—argue over what to do. Forbes refuses to let them call the police,
fearing the device will fall into authorities' hands. As secrets come out,
including the fact that Cyrus only settled for Shelby because he couldn’t date
Nikki, Dennis calls the police, framing Cyrus for the murders. The group
spirals into distrust, with Shelby refusing to swap back and preferring Nikki’s
body, while Cyrus tries to repair his fractured relationship.
As things escalate, Maya reveals that Cyrus kissed her while pretending to
be Forbes in the first round, which turns Shelby completely against him. Nikki
tries to convince Forbes to let her swap back, but Shelby intervenes,
threatening Nikki’s career with incriminating footage. Shelby’s manipulation
escalates, leading Nikki to trigger an allergic reaction in Shelby, forcing her
to agree to swap back in exchange for an epi-pen.
As the group fights over the device, the police arrive, and the machine is
activated once again in the chaos. The next morning, Beatrice arrives at the
house, revealing a shocking twist: she had been Forbes all along. Forbes had
swapped bodies with Beatrice after her mental breakdown years earlier, leaving
Beatrice in his body. Seeking revenge for past grievances, Beatrice had
orchestrated the entire evening. Now, in Nikki’s body, she escapes with the
stolen money and the device, leaving the group shattered and confused, with
several of them trapped in bodies not their own.
Shelby and Cyrus return to their original bodies, but Shelby refuses to help
Cyrus clear his name, and Maya, now in Brooke’s body, believes she has been
reincarnated. Meanwhile, Nikki remains in Reuben’s body, and Beatrice (now in
Nikki’s body) drives off with the stolen fortune and the device.
